Lidiya Yankovskaya: The Russian-born American conductor joined Chicago Opera Theater last summer as the company’s new music director. She’s bright, talented, experienced and bursting with ideas, although everyone will have to wait until the opening production of COT’s 2018-19 season (a Russian opera to be announced) to catch her in action in the opera pit. Meanwhile, she will join composer Kevin Puts and librettist Mark Campbell for a preview/discussion of their new opera for COT, “Elizabeth Cree.”
