World-renowned conductor and Guilderland High School graduate Lidiya Yankovskaya returns to the Capital Region to guest conduct the Albany Symphony—the orchestra whose concerts she regularly attended while growing up. In fact, it was a member of the Symphony who was also her teacher at Guilderland who first encouraged her to conduct. Yankovskaya spoke with us about that and about the concert coming up on Saturday, March 8 at Proctors, music of Missy Mazzoli, Samuel Barber and Antonin Dvorak.
